Chic Reads: Assouline at The Plaza

If there is one publisher that epitomizes chicness, it's Assouline.   I had the privilege of attending their fall preview yesterday and I warn you again, make room on your bookshelves!  I was able to take a look at American Fashion Designers at Home and it's even better than I anticipated.  Those of you who love Paris will also want to order Antiquaires: Flea Markets of Paris by Laurie Verchere with a foreword by 1stdibs founder Michael Bruno.  The Assouline shop in the Plaza is also worth checking out since they often carry titles not available online and a vast collection of vintage books.  You can even pick up a Goyard trunk full of Assouline titles.  I told you they were chic!  Happy Reading!

Assouline est arrivé!

The only thing that makes up for the fact that it doesn't seem like Ladurée is moving into the refurbished Plaza is that Assouline has and is already open! It's a small space on the mezzanine but it's packed with the beautiful books that we've come to expect from the the fashionable firm. Other offerings include vintage books, candles, prints and luxury editions. Oh, and I'll let you in on a little secret...they currently have in stock, Axel Vervoordt: The Story of a Style, which is a very rare find!

Just make sure you don't try to visit them on Sunday. They are only open Monday through Saturday until 6:00pm or give them a call, (212) 593-7236. I'm sure they'd be happy to send you something. Bon shopping!

I Heart Assouline

I love books! As does everyone in the blog world it seems, which is why I thought I'd take a moment to profile one of the chicest luxury publishers ever, Assouline. It's surprising that the company was only created by Proper Assouline about ten years ago. For some reason, it seems like they have been around forever! As one person said it best, "As Cartier is to watches, Assouline is to books."

Not only are their books chic, but so is their Paris boutique on the rue Bonaparte seen below. I could spend hours there checking out their finely illustrated books, including some of their newest titles for Fall 2007, American Fashion, Dior, and Inspired Styles. I know they will be on everyone's wish list soon, including mine!
